Broidy Park is Getting A Facelift !
Pictou Recreation, Tourism and Culture along with community volunteers are coordinating new and exciting changes to Broidy Park. This Fall and into 2010 you will see ongoing changes in the park that will appeal to families, seniors, and youth. Broidy Park will transform into a community outdoor recreational space that can be enjoyed by all ages...
The 1st Phase of the renewal of the park have begun...community spirit at work!
All hands on deck, on September 26, 2009 a group of community volunteers came out for the day to give a hand...planting, digging, laying pathways and beautification.
Over 40 people turned out, picked up a shovel and became involved. Many of the plants were kindly donated.
Phase 1 Highlights
- Install accessible pathways (for strollers, seniors and wheelchairs)
- Beautification - shaded areas out of the sun, family picnics, changing colors in foliage throughout the season
- Benches and rest areas
- Main entrance to the park relocated and signage (McCulloch parking lot area)
