Welcome to Pictou

The Town of Pictou, located on the beautiful Northumberland Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada, is renowned as the "Birthplace of New Scotland" as it was here that the first wave of Scottish immigrants landed in 1773. Here you can explore the world class Hector Heritage Quay and board the full-sized Ship Hector replica. Pictou is the best place to experience old-world charm and culture and present-day hospitality.

Investing In Our Community

Pictou's quality of life balances the charm of small town living with bustling commerce and a myriad of business opportunities. Pictou is known for our Scottish culture, coastal scenery, an award winning waterfront, the Ship "Hector", exciting festivals, and world class heritage attractions.

Recreation Matters

Children's development and their ability to succeed are influenced by experiences they encounter at home, at school and at play. Recreation and sport play an important role in contributing to positive development. The High Five Program helps ensure every child has a positive experience.
