The Town of Pictou is receiving community member interest for the position of Chairman of the Community Advisory Board for the 144 Construction Engineering Flight.

The 144 Construction Engineering Flight is a Reserve Unit of the Canadian armed Forces established in 1996. 144 CEF has a proud history of completing construction projects for non-profit groups that require a vast array of skillsets. The Flight provides full and part time training as Construction Technicians, Plumbing and Heating Technicians, Electrical Distribution Technicians, Electrical Generating Systems Technicians, Refrigeration & Mechanical Systems Technicians and Water, Fuels & Environment Technicians for its’ members.

The Community Advisory Board is made up of representatives from the six municipal units in Pictou County. The Board solicits and reviews construction requests from organizations throughout the region. Projects selected are presented to the 144 CEF for possible advancement.

The Chair of the CAB is appointed by the Town of Pictou to support and champion the efforts of 144 CEF.

The Community Advisory Board Chair operates out of the Royal Canadian Air Forces Memorial Building on 237 Welsford Street in Pictou, NS.

The following will be considered as assets in the selection of the CAB Chair:

  • Construction and project management background
  • Involvement in or extensive knowledge of a military environment
  • Experience in briefing and advising boards and / or senior management
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and budget management
  • Community involvement and familiarity with not for profit organizations
  • Proven ability to work closely with municipal entities
