Pictou Town Council
The Mayor and four Councilors representing two wards of the Town of Pictou are the Pictou Town Council, which is the governing and legislative body for the community.
Pictou Town Council meets the first and third Monday of each month, except holidays. Council meetings are held in Council Chambers, on the third floor of the Town Administration building, 40 Water Street, Pictou, and are open to the public. Special meetings of Council and public hearings are sometimes held at other times and are advertised in the Pictou Advocate. Committees of Council 
Under the Nova Scotia Municipal Government Act, Town Council can establish special citizen advisory committees, community committees, boards, or commissions to advise the council on important community matters. Some of these committees oversee Town facilities and work directly with staff, such as the Recreation and Parks Committee. These committees allow the people of the area to participate in the governance of the community and Mayor and Council encourage citizen participation on these committees and boards. To be eligible for these voluntary positions you must be a resident of The Town of Pictou. For information about these committees or how to get involved in your community contact the Town of Pictou Administration office.
