Pictou Volunteer of the Year Awards

Volunteer LogoEach year, communities all across Canada celebrate National Volunteer Week, which normally takes place the third week of April. The primary purpose of this specially designated week is to thank and honour people who donate their time to help others by supporting the causes in which they believe. Volunteer Week also serves to reinforce the human values that volunteering represents and increases awareness of the vital importance of volunteerism to our communities.

Each year the Town of Pictou calls for nominations from the community for a Volunteer of the Year. This award is given to a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution in the Town of Pictou. The Volunteer of the Year represents the community at the Provincial Volunteer Award Ceremony in Halifax.  The Recipient is also recognized at the annual Pictou Volunteer Banquet, which celebrates all volunteers in the community. Contact Pictou Recreation and Parks for more information.
