Welcome to Pictou County
There are ways that you or someone you know can help to make newcomers to Pictou County feel welcome…..Volunteers are needed for a program called "Friend to Friend Matches." Volunteers are matched one on one (same sex) with an immigrant newcomer. The two people get together for a few hours a week to do things of common interest or need – go to lunch, go to the mall, explore a grocery store, look at cars for sale, etc. The commitment is for 6 months. It is important to help newcomers feel welcome and included in our community, so if you or someone you know, would be interested in being a friend to someone from another county, please call Wendy Hughes at 752-0202 for more information or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org
