General Interest

The Town of Pictou is celebrated two significant anniversaries in 2023: 150 years since the incorporation of the town on April 30, 1873, and 250 years of the historic arrival of the Ship Hector from Scotland on September 15, 1773. Festivities recognized our community’s strong heritage connections and relationships with the Mi’kmaq and Scots. Celebrations played tribute to the efforts emigrants made that have provided the growth and development of cultural, political, educational, and industrial contributions that have chartered our course to the present day.
Multiple events were planned by various community organizations.
