RCMP officers will be conducting training exercises tomorrow, Thursday, May 21, between 10 am and 2 pm on Elliott Street in #Pictou. Residents may notice an increased police presence and noise during the training.

All RCMP training is carefully planned and controlled and is essential to maintaining both public and officer safety; there’s no risk to the public.

First Reading Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV) Revised Draft By-Law

Off‑Highway Vehicles (OHVs) were approved to travel within the downtown area as part of a pilot project beginning in April 2025. At the Committee of Council  meeting on May 4, 2026 Council discussed the pros and cons of the pilot project based on the past year’s experience. A draft of the revised By-Law to expand OHV access to include all streets and roads within the Town was reviewed.

At the Regular Council  Meeting on May 19 Council approved the  pdf First Reading of the Revised OHV Draft By-law(558 KB) .

Residents and general public may provide feedback by emailing: Council, Mayor and CAO.  Feedback will be received until the Second Reading of the By-Law at the June 15th Regular Council Meeting.

Public Notice-Caladh Avenue Project

As work progresses along Caladh Avenue and installation of the new boardwalk and multi-use pathway begins, items located within active construction areas will need to be temporarily removed.

On Tuesday, the three large stone monuments honouring the Ship Hector, along with the cannon and benches, will be relocated until the project is completed. We would like to assure the public that these items will be returned to the waterfront once construction is finished. As part of the project, a new base will also be installed for the monument stones.

Work is anticipated to continue through the spring with the goal of reopening the street by the end of June as to not impact the peak tourism season.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as these exciting waterfront improvements along Caladh Avenue continue.
